Trixbox Password Reset Overview

Maybe you are taking over a trixbox server, or you have forgotten your trixbox root password. Recovery is easy, however you will require access to the server itself, with a keyboard and mouse to complete the trixbox password reset.

Reset Method

As the server boots the Trixbox screen shows. Stop it going any further by pressing the up arrow.
Press 'a' to edit the trixbox boot config. Something Like : grub append> ro root=LABEL=/
Add a Space and the word single. : ro root=LABEL=/ single
Press enter for the system to boot trixbox into single user mode. : sh-2.05b#
type passwd root : sh-2.05b#passwd root
follow the prompts.
type Reboot

Congratulations. Your trixbox password has now been reset phew.

Boot Trixbox, Use the up arrow to stop the booting at the grub screen.

At the trixbox boot screen, press 'a'. This will allow us to append a command.

Add the word single to the end of the string. Trixbox will boot to single user mode.

Type reboot to reboot trixbox back to full function mode. And we now know the trixbox root password again.
