What is an FXS Port?

FXS Ports are used to connect to analog telephones. These are known as POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) lines.

  • FXS is an acronym for Foreign eXchange Subscriber.
  • FXS ports generally will deliver a dial tone, current and voltages to a telephony device.
  • FXS ports are the equivelent of your own wall socket to plug a telephone into.

The FXS port is different to an FXO port.

FXS Modules for Digium Cards

Digium card FXS modules are usually green.

  • S100M - Discontinued, see S110M.
  • S110M - Is a single FXS module.
  • S400M - Is a 4 port FXS module.
