Asterisk Cards Explained

OpenVox Voice Cards

Digium official cards are split into 3 main categories. Digital, Analog and Voice Processing.

• Digital Cards are used to connect to ISDN network equipment.
• Analog Cards are used to connect to PSTN network equipment.
• Voice Processing Cards are used to process voice and take load from the CPU.

Digium Genuine Analog Cards FXS/FXO

• Analog Cards are used to connect to PSTN network equipment.

There are FXO and FXS modules available for each Asterisk card, FXO will connect to a standard Telstra line. FXS will allow a standard telephone to connect to your PBX (eg A DECT phone). The card model number will reveal what the card should be used for. Most common is the TDM01B, this will connect to 1 standard telstra line. A TDM02B will connect to 2 standard telstra lines etc.

• TDM400P - A 4 port base Card. PCI - Discontinued, See TDM410P
• AEX400 - Same as a TDM400P with a PCI Express interface.
• TDM410 - A 4 port base Card. PCI
• AEX410 - Same as a TDM410 with a PCI Express interface.
• TDM800P - An 8 port base Card. PCI
• AEX800 - Same as the TDM800P with a PCI Express interface.
• TDM2400P - A 24(FXO or FXS) Port Base Card. PCI
• AEX2400 - Same as the TDM2400P with a PCI Express interface.

There are modules that attach to each card in Single or 4 port configuration.

• S400M - 4 Port FXS Module for the XXX800 or XXX2400 cards.
• X400M - 4 Port FXO Module for the XXX800 or XXX2400 cards.
• S100M - 1 Port FXS Module for the XXX800 or XXX400 cards.
• X100M - 1 Port FXO Module for the XXX800 or XXX400 cards.

You can also purchase an echo cancellation module for each card VPMADT032. This offers on-board high performance echo cancellation.

Cisco FXO Gateways

• Cisco SPA400 4 FXO port Stand-Alone Unit, peers with Asterisk or Trixbox.
• Cisco SPA8800 4FXO ports and 4 FXS Ports.
• Cisco SPA3102 1FXO ports and 1 FXS Ports.

Cisco FXS Gateways

These FXS gateways offer traditional phone ports for either traditional analog equipment or as a method to convert a traditional PBX to VoIP lines.

• Cisco PAP2T 2 FXS Ports, Cheap unit, solid performer.
• Cisco SPA8000 8 FXS Ports, Business Grade.
• Cisco SPA8800 4FXO ports and 4 FXS Ports.
